Restore a youthful, uplifted breast profile without reducing size - tailored by Dr. Matwa Christopher.
Mastopexy is a cosmetic procedure for breasts that need more of a lift than a reduction. It is indicated for ladies with large breasts that are not larger than normal (macromastia) and who typically present without antecedent symptoms. The aim is to achieve symmetrical, pleasing breasts with better projection and lift.
The procedure involves preoperative outlining of surgical incisions under local or general anaesthesia. At Truffel Healthcare, Dr. Matwa uses a SHORT VERTICAL INCISION approach, resulting in a minimal, well-hidden scar placed along natural body contours. Post-operatively, a compression bra is worn for 8 to 12 weeks. Downtime ranges from 3 days to 3 weeks depending on the extent of the procedure, followed by bandage changes and scar management with creams, silicone sheets, and medical tapes.
For women who desire both lifting and additional volume, mastopexy can be combined with breast augmentation in a single procedure. Dr. Matwa assesses each patient's unique anatomy at consultation to advise on the most appropriate combined approach.

Ptosis is corrected by repositioning breast tissue and the nipple-areola complex to a more natural, elevated position, restoring a youthful silhouette.
Mastopexy uses your own tissue to achieve lift and reshape - making it an excellent option for those seeking natural results without foreign implants.
Asymmetry between breasts is addressed during the procedure, creating a more balanced, proportionate and aesthetically pleasing outcome.
Dr. Matwa selects from periareolar, lollipop, or anchor incision techniques based on the degree of ptosis, ensuring the ideal result with minimum scarring.
When combined with a stable weight and a supportive bra routine, the results of mastopexy are durable and can maintain their shape for many years.
Patients consistently report significant improvements in body image, clothing fit, and self-confidence following a successful breast lift procedure.
Dr. Matwa Christopher follows a structured, patient-centred approach to mastopexy - from your first consultation through to your final post-operative review.
A thorough consultation evaluates breast volume, skin elasticity, degree of ptosis, and your aesthetic goals. Dr. Matwa determines the optimal incision technique and marks key landmarks prior to surgery.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. The selected incision - periareolar, vertical (lollipop), or inverted-T (anchor) - is made to access the underlying breast tissue.
Excess skin is removed and the breast gland is reshaped and elevated. The nipple-areola complex is repositioned to a higher, more natural location. Internal sutures secure the new contour.
The incisions are closed with fine sutures. A surgical support bra is applied. You are provided with detailed post-operative instructions, and a follow-up schedule is arranged before discharge.

Rest at home with your surgical bra worn continuously. Mild swelling and bruising is normal. Prescribed pain relief keeps discomfort manageable. Avoid lifting or strenuous movement.
Light walking encouraged to promote circulation. Sutures are reviewed and removed where necessary. Continue wearing the support bra. Showering is permitted after 48-72 hours post-op.
Most patients with desk-based roles return to work during this period. Continue avoiding upper body exercise and heavy lifting. Swelling gradually diminishes and shape becomes visible.
Swelling fully resolves and the breast contour settles into its final shape. Scars begin to fade to a fine, pale line. Strenuous exercise and underwire bras are typically cleared at this stage.
